This was such a fun makeover.. here is the before. This post contains Amazon affiliate links, if you choose to use my links I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support!

I started this project off with a color that I don't typically use... yellow. This particular shade of yellow is called "yellow wellies" by Country Chic Paint. I applied this in a stipple motion to create some texture, using a DB Oval Brush. It's honestly one of my favorite paint brushes that I've ever purchased. I don't often paint over my hardware but since I will be embellishing this piece with moulds, I decided to paint over it.

I then chose a stencil that I've had for quite a while that reminds me of a vintage wallpaper. I sprayed the back of it outside first, using a stencil adhesive. I then applied my stencil to the sides and top using a foam dabber and the colors Wisteria & Nightfall. Blending colors with a stencil gives a piece such a unique look. You will often see me use cardboard when stenciling, I first unload a little paint onto my carboard before applying it to my project to help minimize over application/bleeding. I am a box hoarder, I save almost every box that comes in. LOL

While I am letting the paint dry for a day, I go ahead and make my resin moulds. I used Amazing Casting Resin with the "Brigette" Mould and the "Following Alice" Mould. I started by applying copper metallic mica powder and then following the resin instructions. They only took about 10 minutes to form & after demoulding, I applied to my piece with Titebond Quick & Thick using a rubber "paint brush" style applicator. I also use painter's tape to help hold them in place while drying.

Now this is way too bright for me at this point, so it's time to tone it down with some black paint, called "Liquorice." I'm using my angled synthetic brush for this, the angle is important to get into the nooks & crannies. I also have a slow mist spray bottle (this link is for a similar style) full of water as well as paper towels. I typically use shop rags but I was out and the paper towels worked fine. I also took this time and made it look chippy and distressed with my nail.

Once that has dried, I am adding antique gold rub n buff to my piece. I love how detailed these moulds are, and when you apply wax it really brings all of those gorgeous details out.

I couldn't love it more! The colors are so "alice." Here is the full video tutorial if you're interested.

Remember, Be kind! Be creative!
